- Who Are The Friends of The Art Museum? The association of "friends" was founded in 1975 and plays a vital role in the development of the Museum and its collections. The ‘Friends’ play an important role in helping the Art Museum fulfill its objectives by: • Actively contributing their knowledge, experience and competence • Supporting acquisitions and a wide range of projects through sponsorship • Representing the Art Museum’s interest by promoting art to a wider audience. “The Friends” main business, under their constitution, is to enlist the support of Patrons, Life Members and other subscribing members as well as the general public, to raise funds for the purpose of enlarging the collection of works of art and generally to encourage public interest in and support for the Art Museum and its collection of artworks. As a result The Friends also acquire, hold, accumulate, control, use and dispose of monies and property and use the income derived from this for the purpose of achieving the above-mentioned objects. email:friends.ART.museum@telkomsa.net
